ABOUT ME
Whitney Houston had the right idea when she wrote “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.” My father told me to “never stop learning," and his words have become the manta and force that fuels my life.
My name is Stephanie Bjork-George, and I am a dedicated proposals manager, writer, aspiring cook, wife and mother to a glaring of cats who bring me great joy and help to keep my stress to a minimum. My son (24) flew the nest to pursue his own adventures and now lives near the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. I graduated from Strayer University in 2014, with a B.A. in Acquisition and Contract Management, and, a Masters of Distance Education and E-Learning from the University of Maryland University College, conferred March, 2020. I was one of the first graduating classes to have a virtual commencement, and we were unable to gather due to COVID stay at home orders.
As the Proposals Manager for the Institutional Sales Division of Stride, Inc. (formerly K12 Inc), I spend my days writing sales proposals and working on various other projects aimed at delivering the best in education solutions to schools and districts. I have worked at my firm for 16 years, and much to my relief, toil from the comfort of my home office in Aberdeen, Maryland. This perk allows more time for creative endeavors, and less time fighting Washington, D.C. traffic. I am passionate about education and I feel fortunate to work in the field. I pursued my MDE to advance my skills and knowledge of the industry to provide more value to my firm, our partners, and for my own personal and professional growth. I am not sure where the path will take me, but I want to go into leadership to continue helping schools solve their most pressing issues to help students succeed. Personally, I enjoy hiking when I have time to escape work; I am a bit of a bookworm, and find therapy in cooking. I consider myself an enthusiastic foodie, and like to recreate dishes I enjoy in my travels. I recently traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, and enjoyed hiking Camelback Mountain with my exuberant colleagues. Additionally, I am the co-host of an informal private online group for women with the purpose of supporting each other personally and professionally. One of my many passions is helping others. |
